Other common names: Black-eared/Salvador/Abingdon Mockingbird (personatus); Isabela/Albemarle Mockingbird (parvulus)
Taxonomy: Orpheus parvulus Gould, 1837, Isabela Island (formerly Albemarle Island), Galapagos Archipelago.
Genus considered most closely related to, and putatively derived from, mainland Mimus longicaudatus. Forms a superspecies with N. trifasciatus, N. macdonaldi and N. melanotis; all previously considered conspecific. Race personatus has sometimes been treated as a separate species; described race bindloei (from Marchena I) considered indistinguishable from aforementioned. Six subspecies recognized.
