Taxonomy: Gallinago stricklandii G. R. Gray, 1845, Hermit Island, Cape Horn.
Formerly placed in genus Chubbia. Forms superspecies with G. jamesoni, with which often considered conspecific. Monotypic.
Distribution: SC Chile and SC Argentina S to Tierra del Fuego.
