Frill-necked Monarch (Arses lorealis) - HBW 11, p. 315

Taxonomy: Arses lorealis De Vis, 1895, Cape York, Australia.
Forms a superspecies with A. insularis, A. telescopthalmus and A. kaupi. Was for long regarded as conspecific with A. telescopthalmus, but recently reseparated on basis of very distinct female plumage and disjunct range. Monotypic.

Distribution: Extreme N Australia: N Cape York Peninsula S to Weipa on W coast and to c. 14° S on E coast (including Iron Range, Coen area and Silver Plains), in NE Queensland.
