Other common names: Forbes's Banded Plover
Taxonomy: Ægialitis forbesi Shelley, 1883, Shonga, Niger River.
Has been considered conspecific with C. tricollaris; probably best considered to form superspecies. Monotypic.
Distribution: Ghana to SW Sudan, and S through Zaire and W Uganda locally to C & S Angola and extreme W Zambia. Recorded W to Senegal, but not known to breed W of Ghana.
