Taxonomy: Capito quinticolor Elliot, 1865, Colombia.
Relationships unclear, but possibly close to C. maculicoronatus and C. squamatus, and also to C. niger. Monotypic.
Distribution: W Colombia from C Chocó (Quibdó area) S to NW Ecuador (Esmeraldas).
