Taxonomy: Psilopogon pyrolophus S. Müller, 1835, Sumatra.
Genus rather closely related to Megalaima. Monotypic.
Distribution: Mountain slopes of Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra; recently reported extreme S Thailand.
