Taxonomy: Zosterops explorator E. L. Layard, 1875, Kandavu Island, Fiji.
Affinities unclear; may form a superspecies with Z. flavifrons, Z. minutus and Z. xanthochroa. Monotypic.
Distribution: Fiji Is: Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Viti Levu, Ovalau and Kadavu.
