Taxonomy: Myothera ferruginea Temminck, 1822, vicinity of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Members of genus form a well-defined clade, and appear to be closely related to Hypocnemis. Present species closely related to D. rubricollis, until recently treated as conspecific. Monotypic.
Distribution: SE Brazil, from SE Bahia S to NE Santa Catarina, extending inland to EC Minas Gerais and W São Paulo.
