Taxonomy: Macronyx füllebornii Reichenow, 1900, Unika Highlands, south-western Tanzania.
Genus probably closely related to Tmetothylacus and Hemimacronyx. May form a superspecies with M. croceus. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- ascensi Salvadori, 1907 - Angola, C & S DRCongo, Zambia (W of Luangwa Valley) and extreme N Namibia; probably also extreme N Malawi.
- fuellebornii Reichenow, 1900 - SW Tanzania.
