Taxonomy: Nesomimus macdonaldi Ridgway, 1890, Española Island (formerly Hood Island), Galapagos Archipelago.
Genus considered most closely related to, and putatively derived from, mainland Mimus longicaudatus. Forms a superspecies with N. trifasciatus, N. melanotis and N. parvulus; all previously considered conspecific. Monotypic.
Distribution: Española and adjacent Gardner-near-Española, in SE Galapagos Is.
