Taxonomy: Lanius gubernator Hartlaub, 1882, Central Africa = Langomeri, Uganda.
May form a superspecies with L. souzae. Monotypic.

Distribution: S Mali (R Niger) and N Ivory Coast E discontinuously to S Sudan, NE DRCongo and N Uganda.
