Taxonomy: Palaeornis Calthrapae [sic] Blyth, 1849, Sri Lanka.
Species name originally based on maiden name, Calthrop, of E. L. Layard's wife, so justifiably emended; sometimes erroneously listed as calthorpae. Monotypic.
Distribution: Sri Lanka.
