Taxonomy: Drymoeca hypoxantha Sharpe, 1877, Seymour, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Forms a superspecies with P. maculosa; often considered conspecific, but little evidence of intergradation where the two meet (other than around Mt Currie, in East Griqualand). Monotypic.
Distribution: Soutpansberg and escarpment of E South Africa and W Swaziland, S through midlands of KwaZulu-Natal to Eastern Cape (around East London).
