Other common names: Two-banded Courser
Taxonomy: Cursorius africanus Temminck, 1807, Namaqualand.
Often included in Rhinoptilus, sometimes in Cursorius, but probably merits its own monotypic genus. Alternatively, present species and R. cinctus have been placed in Hemerodromus. Birds from C Tanzania sometimes separated from gracilis as race illustris; race sharpei sometimes considered synonymous with nominate. Eight subspecies recognized.
