Other common names: Green-winged Trumpeter
Taxonomy: Psophia viridis Spix, 1825, Parintins, Lower Amazon.
Forms superspecies with P. crepitans and P. leucoptera. Proposed race interjecta differs only slightly from races dextralis and obscura and adjoins their ranges; generally thought to represent an intergradation between populations of these two races. Three subspecies usually recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- viridis Spix, 1825 - C Brazil (S of R Amazon, between R Madeira and R Tapajós).
- dextralis Conover, 1934 - EC Brazil (S of R Amazon, between R Tapajós and R Tocantins).
- obscura Pelzeln, 1857 - NE Brazil (S of R Amazon, in NE Pará E of R Tocantins).
