Taxonomy: Ornismya Ricordii Gervais, 1835, Santiago, Cuba.
Forms a superspecies with C swainsonii and C. maugaeus, and these three formerly separated in genus Riccordia. In past, considered to include Brace’s Emerald (C. bracei) as an extinct race, but this form now considered most likely a separate species (see page 533). Monotypic.
Distribution: Cuba (including Cayo Coco, Cayo Largo and nearby cays) and I of Pines, and Bahamas (Grand Bahama, Great Abaco, Andros, Green Cay); casual in rest of Bahamas.
