Crowned Cormorant (Phalacrocorax coronatus) - HBW 1, p. 353

Taxonomy: Graculus coronatus Wahlberg, 1855, Possession Island, South West Africa.
Often considered to be race of P. africanus, but fair geographical proximity without intergrading, and juvenile plumages different; may be more appropriately treated as forming superspecies. Frequently placed in Halietor or Microcarbo. Monotypic.

Distribution: Coasts of SW Africa, from C Namibia to Cape Agulhas (South Africa).
