Taxonomy: Falco trivirgatus Temminck, 1824, Sumatra.
Forms superspecies with A. griseiceps. Eleven subspecies recognized.

  • peninsulae Koelz, 1949 - SW India.
  • indicus (Hodgson, 1836) - NC, NE & E India and Nepal to S China, including Hainan, and S to Indochina and Malay Peninsula.
