Taxonomy: Procellaria Cookii G. R. Gray, 1843, New Zealand.
Formerly included P. defilippiana. Forms part of assemblage often referred to as subgenus Cookilaria. Monotypic.
Distribution: New Zealand area, breeding on Great and Little Barrier Is off North I, and Codfish I off Stewart I (to S of New Zealand).
