Taxonomy: Perdix torqueola Valenciennes, 1826, Bengal.
Four subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- millardi (Stuart Baker, 1921) - W Himalayas.
- torqueola (Valenciennes, 1826) - Nepal E to Tibet and N Burma.
- batemani (Ogilvie Grant, 1906) - N Burma and SC China (W Yunnan, SW Sichuan).
- griseata Delacour & Jabouille, 1930 - NW Vietnam.
