Taxonomy: Bucco capensis Linnaeus, 1766, Cape of Good Hope; error = the Guianas.
Birds from SE Colombia to Ecuador and E Peru sometimes treated as race dugandi, but this form is doubtfully distinct. Monotypic.
Distribution: Amazon Basin from E Ecuador and SE Colombia E to S Venezuela, the Guianas and N Brazil (E to Belém), and S to NE Peru and N Mato Grosso.
