Taxonomy: Nesotriccus Ridgwayi C. H. Townsend, 1895, Cocos Island, off Pacific coast of Costa Rica.
Affinities somewhat uncertain; anatomical and behavioural characters indicate that it is closely related to Phaeomyias. Monotypic.
Distribution: Cocos I, SW of Costa Rica.
