Taxonomy: Otus marshalli Weske and Terborgh, 1981, Cordillera Vilcabamba, 2180 m, Cuzco, Peru.
Possibly forms superspecies with O. petersoni; both formerly included under invalid name O. huberi. Monotypic.

Distribution: C & S Peru in Pasco (Cordillera Yanachaga) and Cuzco (Cordillera Vilcabamba).
