Taxonomy: Pteroptochos Rubecula Kittlitz, 1830, Concepción, Chile.
Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- rubecula (Kittlitz, 1830) - S Chile, from Bío Bío (occasionally occurring N in Andean foothills as far as Colchagua) S to Aisén, and immediately adjacent parts of Argentina (from Neuquén S to W Chubut).
- mochae Chapman, 1934 - Mocha I, in S Chile.
