Taxonomy: Fregata andrewsi Mathews, 1914, Christmas Island, Indian Ocean.
Formerly included in F. aquila. Monotypic.
Distribution: Only known to breed on Christmas I, E Indian Ocean; feeds in surrounding ocean and disperses widely. Said to breed on Anambas Is, E of Malay Peninsula, but good evidence lacking.
