Spanish: Francolín Chino
Taxonomy: Tetrao Pintadeanus Scopoli, 1786, China.
F. francolinus, F. pictus and F. pintadeanus form a closely related species group. Recently proposed reorganization of Francolinus retains only F. francolinus, F. pondicerianus, F. gularis, F. pictus and present species in Francolinus. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- phayrei (Blyth, 1843) - NE India (Manipur) E through Burma to Vietnam and Kampuchea.
- pintadeanus (Scopoli, 1786) - SE China E from Yunnan through Guangxi, Hainan I and Guangdong to Zhejiang.
