Taxonomy: Crypturus perdicarius Kittlitz, 1830, Valparaíso, Chile.
Forms superspecies with N. pentlandii and N. cinerascens. Two subspecies recognized.

- perdicaria (Kittlitz, 1830) - NC Chile.
- sanborni Conover, 1924 - SC Chile.
