Taxonomy: Calliste castaneoventris P. L. Sclater, 1851, Bolivia.
Molecular-genetic data indicate that this genus and Dubusia are sister-taxa. Species is sometimes placed in latter genus, in part because their songs are somewhat similar to each other. Birds from Auquimarca (Junín), in Peru, described as a geographical race, peruviana, but appear to differ little, if at all, from those in rest of species’ range. Treated as monotypic.

Distribution: E slope of Andes in Peru (from SE La Libertad) S to Bolivia (La Paz and Cochabamba).
