Taxonomy: Garrulax nuchalis Godwin-Austen, 1876, Lhota, Naga Hills, Nagaland, India.
Genus traditionally subsumed in Garrulax, but differs in some small details of morphology. May form a superspecies with D. chinensis, and has been treated as conspecific. Monotypic.
Distribution: NE India (SE Arunachal Pradesh S to SE & E Assam and Nagaland) and N Myanmar.
