Taxonomy: Phalacrocorax onslowi Forbes, 1893, Chatham Islands.
Often considered race of P. carunculatus. Some authors merge carunculatus, chalconotus and onslowi, and campbelli, ranfurlyi and colensoi into single species. Sometimes placed in Leucocarbo or Euleucocarbo. Monotypic.
Distribution: Restricted to Chatham Is (New Zealand).
