Taxonomy: Gallus Lafayetii Lesson, 1831, India; error = Sri Lanka.
Forms superspecies with G. gallus and G. sonneratii. Proposed race xanthimaculatus not currently accepted. Monotypic.
Distribution: Sri Lanka.
