Cuckoo-shrikes (Campephagidae)

Buru Cuckoo-shrike (Coracina fortis) - HBW 10, p. 71

French: Échenilleur de Buru German: Bururaupenfänger Spanish: Oruguero de Buru

Taxonomy: Graucalus fortis Salvadori, 1878, Buru Island, South Moluccas.
Forms a superspecies with C. macei, C. javensis, C. schistacea, C. personata, C. atriceps, C. welchmani, C. caledonica and C. novaehollandiae, possibly also including C. caeruleogrisea; all were formerly treated as conspecific. It has been suggested that present species may be conspecific with C. personata, but treatment as a separate species seems preferable on grounds of its geographical isolation and also from the fact that it approaches C. caeruleogrisea in appearance. Monotypic.

Distribution: Buru, in S Moluccas.
