Taxonomy: Eremomela usticollis Sundevall, 1850, Leroma, Pillaansburg, west Northern Province, South Africa.
Proposed race baumgarti (described from Windhoek, in C Namibia) synonymized with nominate. Two subspecies recognized.

Subspecies and Distribution:

  • rensi Benson, 1943 - S & E Zambia, Malawi, N, E & C Zimbabwe, and C Mozambique.
  • usticollis Sundevall, 1850 - S Angola (S Huíla, Cunene), N & C Namibia, N & E Botswana, SW & S Zimbabwe, S Mozambique, NE South Africa (Northern Province, NE KwaZulu-Natal) and E Swaziland.
