Old World Warblers (Sylviidae)

Buff-banded Bushbird (Buettikoferella bivittata) - HBW 11, p. 582

French: Mégalure de Timor German: Timorbuschsänger Spanish: Yerbera de Timor
Other common names: Buff-banded Grassbird/Grasswren/Thicket-warbler, Buettikofer’s/Timor Grassbird/Warbler

Taxonomy: Napothera bivittata Bonaparte, 1850, Timor.
Originally described as a species of babbler (Timaliidae), and subsequently treated in various genera. One of the most recent recommendations has been to submerge the present genus into Megalurulus, but geographical isolation of this taxon from the members of latter genus, in addition to strong morphological differences, renders such treatment unsatisfactory; retention of a monotypic genus for this species considered preferable. Monotypic.

Distribution: Timor, in E Lesser Sundas.
