Taxonomy: Gymnobucco Peli Hartlaub, 1857, Dabocrom, Ghana.
Forms a superspecies with G. sladeni, both also rather closely related to G. calvus. Monotypic.
Distribution: S Sierra Leone E to S Cameroon, W Zaire and S to Gabon and Cabinda (N Angola).
