Australia.
Genus
often subsumed in Meliphaga. Forms a distinctive species group
with L. subfrenatus, L. obscurus, L. hindwoodi
and L. chrysops, and all sometimes combined in a separate
genus, Caligavis. Present speciesformerly included L.
hindwoodi as an outlying population. Monotypic.
Distribution: NE Queensland on E Great Divide from Mt Amos (S of Cooktown) S to S Paluma Range and Mt Elliot (SW of Townsville) including coastal islands, and extending inland to Windsor and Atherton Tablelands, in NE Australia.
