Taxonomy: Laniarius lühderi brauni Bannerman, 1939, Quicolungo, Angola.
Forms a superspecies with L. luehderi and L. amboimensis, and all formerly regarded as conspecific. Recent molecular-genetic work indicates that this superspecies is sister to the superspecies formed by L. aethiopicus and L. turatii. Monotypic.
Distribution: NW Angola (S Uíge and NW Cuanza Norte).
