Taxonomy: Alauda fringillaris Sundevall, 1850, Leeuspruit, Vredevort, Free State, South Africa.
Sometimes placed in a monotypic genus Botha, but such treatment unwarranted. Usually considered closely related to S. conirostris. Monotypic.
Distribution: E Free State and Mpumulanga, in NE South Africa.
