Taxonomy: Psittacus cyanurus J. R. Forster, 1795, Malacca.
Three subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- cyanurus (J. R. Forster, 1795) - S Myanmar and S Thailand S through W Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo; apparently in Indochina in 19th century.
- abbotti Richmond, 1902 - Simeulue and Siumat, off NW Sumatra.
- pontius Oberholser, 1912 - Mentawai Is, off W Sumatra.
