Taxonomy: Otis Cærulesens [sic] Vieillot, 1820, “Kaffraria” = eastern Cape Province.
In past, isolated by some authors in genus Trachelotis. Monotypic.
Distribution: South Africa in E Cape, Orange Free State, W Natal and S Transvaal (E & C Highveld); also Lesotho.
