Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- athertoni (Jardine & Selby, 1830) - W, E & N India (Western & Eastern Ghats, S Himalayas) E to Indochina.
- brevicaudatus (Koelz, 1939) - Hainan.
