Tyrant-flycatchers (Tyrannidae)
Black-throated Tody-tyrant (Hemitriccus granadensis) - HBW 9, p. 327
French: Todirostre à gorge noire
German: Schwarzkehl-Todityrann
Spanish: Titirijí Gorginegro
Taxonomy: Todirostrum granadense Hartlaub, 1843, “Bogotá” = Santa Elena, Antioquia, Colombia.
Formerly treated in genus Euscarthmornis and later in Idioptilon, both of which are now defunct. Possibly a member of the superspecies formed by H. mirandae, H. cinnamomeipectus and H. kaempferi. Vocal and plumage differences across its range suggest that more than one species may be involved. Race andinus doubtfully distinct from intensus. Seven subspecies currently recognized.
