Black-throated Laughingthrush (Dryonastes chinensis) - HBW 12, p. 232

Taxonomy: Lanius (chinensis) Scopoli, 1786, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China.
Genus traditionally subsumed in Garrulax, but differs in some small details of morphology. May form a superspecies with D. nuchalis, and has been considered conspecific. Population in S part of E Thailand apparently not yet assigned to race. Form “lugens” (from Indochina) is a dark morph of nominate race. Five subspecies recognized.

propinquus Salvadori, 1913 - S Myanmar (Tenasserim) and W Thailand.
chinensis ( Scopoli, 1786) - SE China (SE Yunnan E to Guangxi and C Guangdong), NE, C & S Laos and Vietnam (S to C Annam).
