Spanish: Polluela Negra Africana
Taxonomy: Gallinula flavirostra Swainson, 1837, Senegal.
Sometimes included in Porzana, or placed in monospecific Limnocorax, but inseparable from Amaurornis on skeletal characters. Forms superspecies with A. olivieri. Monotypic.
Distribution: Sub-Saharan Africa, from N edge of Sahel zone S to Cape, except in desert regions of NE & SW.
