Taxonomy: Anabates melanorhynchus Tschudi, 1844, forest region of Peru between 10° S and 12°S.
Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- striaticeps (P. L. Sclater & Salvin, 1875) - E Andes of Colombia (S from Boyacá and W Casanare).
- melanorhynchus (Tschudi, 1844) - E Andes in Ecuador (S from Sucumbíos) and Peru (S to Puno).
