Taxonomy: Geothlypis beldingi Ridgway, 1882, San José del Cabo, Baja California, Mexico.
Forms a superspecies with G. trichas and G. rostrata, presumably also including G. flavovelata; the four have sometimes been regarded as conspecific. Variation in coloration considered clinal by some authors, who prefer to treat species as monotypic. Two subspecies currently recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- goldmani Oberholser, 1917 - C Baja California, in NW Mexico.
- beldingi Ridgway, 1882 - S Baja California.
