Taxonomy: Centropus celebensis Quoy and Gaimard, 1830, Manado, Sulawesi.
Forms a superspecies with C. unirufus. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- celebensis Quoy & Gaimard, 1830 - N Sulawesi.
- rufescens (A. B. Meyer & Wiglesworth, 1896) - C, E, S & SE Sulawesi, Labuan Blanda, Muna and Butung.
