Taxonomy: Cephalopterus glabricollis Gould, 1851, Chiriquí, 8000 feet [c. 2440 m], Panama.
May form a superspecies with C. ornatus and C. penduliger; all three suggested by some as being possibly conspecific, but this considered unlikely. Monotypic.
Distribution: Mountains and surrounding foothills and lowlands of Costa Rica (E from Cordillera Guanacaste) and Panama (E to Veraguas).
