Taxonomy: Larus audouinii Payraudeau, 1826, Sardinia and Corsica.
Probably closest to L. canus. Monotypic.
Distribution: Mediterranean coasts, with main breeding areas at Ebro Delta (NE Spain) and Chafarinas Is (off NE Morocco), scattered colonies E to Tunisia, Aegean Sea, S Turkey and Cyprus. Winters S to Senegambia.
