Taxonomy: Rallus muelleri Rothschild, 1893, Auckland Island.
Sometimes placed in genus Dryolimnas. Forms superspecies with L. mirificus and L. pectoralis; on occasion regarded as race of L. pectoralis. Monotypic.

Distribution: Aucklands Is of Adams and Disappointment.
